After fully adapting to university life at UWA, both academically and socially, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and explore real-life opportunities related to my degree. With limited professional experience at the time, finding a Marketing internship or part-time job proved to be quite challenging.

After countless rejected applications and interviews, I finally landed my first Marketing and Communications Internship at a local food manufacturing company, Turban Chopsticks. As this was my first proper desk "job" in Marketing and Communications, my responsibilities primarily involved content creation, marketing analysis, and competitor research.

My internship with Turban Chopsticks lasted only about 3 months, which was the agreed-upon duration. Additionally, at that time, the company was not looking for a permanent part-time Marketing employee just yet.

However, despite not securing a permanent position, I learned a great deal from this internship, particularly from my supervisor, Mei Wan, and the CEO of Turban Chopsticks herself, Mei Yong. Reflecting on the experience, I realised that I wouldn't have progressed in my career as I have now without the valuable insights they provided me during this internship.

After completing my internship at Turban Chopsticks, I sought out another opportunity to continue developing my skills. With the assistance of a friend I met through university student clubs, I secured my second Marketing and PR Internship at Chaffic.

At Chaffic, the team dynamic was more laid-back and flexible, which aligned better with my working style. I was also more involved in meetings, brainstorming and campaign planning, which I found quite enjoyable.

Initially planned for 12 weeks, my internship was cut short when my supervisor recognised my contributions. By the 8th week, I was offered a permanent part-time position as a Marketing Coordinator Assistant. Since then, I've dedicated myself to delivering my best for the team.

Last year, my efforts paid off as I was promoted to Marketing and PR Coordinator, responsible for both the Australian and Singapore branches of Chaffic. My main tasks and responsibilities include internal and external communications, campaign planning and execution, website management, event planning, social media account management, KOLs management and content creation. I also got assigned to manage my own interns to assist with my tasks and responsibilities, as well as to contribute to the Chaffic brand as a whole.
