UWA Guild ISD, short for International Students Department is a student body representing international students in UWA that acts as an umbrella organisation for smaller international students’ associations and clubs on campus. ISD offers help and a safe space away from home for international students just like myself.

ISD consists of 4 sub-departments: Social, Welfare, Education, and PR. Initially, I joined as an Ordinary Committee Member in the Social sub-department in 2020. Then, in the following year, I took on the roles of Media Project Officer in the PR sub-department and Lighthouse Editor and Designer in the second semester.

As the Media Project Officer, I organised online events on ISD's official Instagram and Facebook accounts, overseeing social engagement from both on-shore and off-shore students at the time. Additionally, I served as a co-editor for the first semester of the Lighthouse publication, contributing to ideas and layout designs. As the semester progressed, my interest deepened, leading me to take on the main role of Lighthouse Editor and Designer.

The Lighthouse publication is basically a student magazine edited and designed by the International Students Department every semester. It contains information about ISD and the committee members in charge during the semester of the publication. Beyond ISD, Lighthouse also features international students' stories, articles, artworks, tips, and any content that aligns with the publication's theme.

My version of Lighthouse revolves around the theme of "The Courage of Letting Go." It focuses on personal stories of letting go of things, places or people and overcoming challenges to usher in new chapters in our lives.

Prior to being appointed as the Lighthouse Editor, I served as a co-editor, responsible for overseeing select sections of the publication.
